NVIDIA SHIELD boasts the best Android gaming has to offer, whether you enjoy games that pit you against flesh-eating hordes of the undead or prefer to lose yourself in more serene adventures where you must rely on your wits and puzzle-solving abilities.

With so many quality titles to choose from, however, sometimes you can lose track of what’s out there and what’s genuinely worth playing. The following guide showcases 11 recently released games you shouldn’t miss out on NVIDIA SHIELD.

AfterloopThis puzzle game is a delight in almost every regard. Afterloop’s protagonist is a little robot named PR8 who has to traverse a giant maze, solving puzzles as he goes in order to rescue the other members of his robot family.

The puzzles consist of sliding arrangements of blocks according to their particular rules of movement in order to reach the exit. It’s a bit like the puzzle game Rush Hour, but with a more complex and engrossing gameplay mechanic.

Stickman Soccer 2016With the UEFA European Championship under way there’s no better time to indulge in a little footonball action in the excellent soccer title, Stickman Soccer 2016.

In this update to the original Stickman Soccer, you can take part in US, European and Women’s soccer leagues and enact France 2016 with 24 teams, three rounds and knockout stages.

Skateboard Party 3Greg Lutzka joins Ratrod Studio Inc’s virtual skateboarding franchise to spectacular effect in Skateboard Party 3. In the game, players can choose from a total of 16 different skaters while upgrading their outfits, skateboards, trucks and wheels as they work their way through 70 challenges.

Alternatively, you can play against a friend and try to land the baddest trick in Skateboard Party 3.

Alto's AdventureThis endless runner has a rather unusual setting. Alto’s Adventure’s premise is that your herd of goats has escaped and run off down the mountainside. You get them back by snowboarding down the mountain and running into them.

Additional points and bonuses can be gained by performing jumps, flips and grinds on your way down while avoiding colliding with hazards. Odd it most certainly is, but Alto’s Adventure is also extremely enjoyable in a laidback kind of way and the striking pastel-shaded visuals are a treat.

Crush Your EnemiesHaving worked on fullblown, hugely complex realtimestrategy games, the members of indie developer Vile Monarch decided it was time to strip the genre back to its component parts and create something that gamers can enjoy in short bursts.

Crush Your Enemies presents you with a simple grid-basedmap on which you place your peasants, warriors and archers in an attempt to capture territory, buildings and engage in battle. The strategic elements are robust enough to deliver a weighty challenge and the whole thing is wrapped up in an entertaining package of sharp dialogue and colourful animation.

Space HulkBeing trapped on a starship with a slew of marauding aliens can only be considered a good thing when it’s happening on your SHIELD device in the form Games Workshops’ turnbased strategy title Space Hulk.

Due to the claustrophobic nature of Space Hulk’s constrictivecorridors, this is all about deploying your marines at strategic points where they can pick off the attacking Genestealers. It’s a war of attrition that is truly a must-play game on SHIELD.

MetaBallPlayers looking to put their reflexes to the ultimate test should look no further than MetaBall. The concept couldn’t be simpler. You are presented with a series of mazes floating high in the air (more than 40 of them in fact) and you have to roll your metal ball from the start of the level to the glittering gemstone at the finish.

This would be easy and somewhat therapeutic if not for the fact that the maze has no walls so you’re constantly in danger of falling off. You’ll also encounter hazards like tiles that send you off in the wrong direction and moving platforms that are a nightmare to come to a halt on. While challenging, MetaBall is also a lot of fun and provides hours of highly addictive entertainment.

Lost EchoLost Echo is a thoughtprovoking pointandclickadventure that will stay with you long after you’ve seen the closing credits. You play the part of Greg who meets his girlfriend Chloe in the park for an ice cream but a mysterious electrical event renders him unconscious.

He wakes up in hospital to discover that Chloe has seemingly been written out of history. So begins a journey to find out what happened and what part Greg himself played in the strange events.

UnkilledMovies and games featuring the undead often have something important to say about society. That’s not the case with Unkilled. This is a tongue-in-cheek (and stunning looking) opportunity to blast the brains out of advancing hordes of zombies.

Those enemies include Minesweeper, a morbidly obese pile of rotting flesh with a naval mine protruding from his gut, Butcher, who has an unfeasibly large blade fused onto his forearm and Dodger, whose American football gear and swiftness prove both amusing and alarming.

Resident Evil 5Five years after the post-apocalyptic events depicted in Resident Evil 4, Chris Redfield and his new partner Sheva Alomar are sent to the fictional African city of Kijuju to track down a trader in illegal biological weapons.

They arrive only to find that the locals have been infected with a virus turning them into murderous hordes of parasite carrying creatures. Cue lots of third-person, intense shooting, exploration, action and gore.

Resident Evil 5 is a SHIELD Android TV exclusive on Android that leverages NVIDIA’s Tegra X1 technology to bring the complete PC quality experience to your living room.

Ultimate Chicken HorseUltimate Chicken Horse is a unique and innovative multiplayer platformer in which players take turns to design the levels themselves.

They do so by placing various objects – platforms, conveyor belts, bombs, buzzsaws and the like – onto a blank level canvas.

Once the building phase is complete, the players race to play through the level gaining points if they finish first and stop other players with their traps. It’s multiplayer gaming at its best on SHIELD.

Rebel Cops is coming to an iOS and Android device near you soon, and you can get a little taste of it early now that it's opened for pre-registration/pre-order.

Developer HandGames also created This is the Police, which is a popular strategy game that I'm sure you've seen before. Rebel Cops puts a vigilante spin on the world of being a cop, and it's up to you to set things straight around town.

A crime boss named Viktor Zeuv is going around scaring all of the citizens and even the police. He now has everyone under his spell and is dominating everything, after only recently appearing on the scene.

So, are you just going to sit there and let this man destroy your town? Heck no, it's time to take matters into your own hands and stop this thug.

You take on the role of an outlaw gang looking to seek revenge and bring about their own form of justice. Hold on there, though, police chief, you shouldn't burst in there all crazy with your guns.

Rebel Cops is a turn-based game, after all, so you must strategize accordingly before launching your assault. From a top-down perspective, you'll be able to move your (kinda) officers to different spots on the map.

Yes, you'll be able to shoot baddies. It's priced at $6.99 and will launch on April 23rd.
Love using your mind on your way to victory? Then check out the top 25 strategy games for Android

This week has been a good week for a multitude of things. For us, however, it’s been fantastic for puzzlers. With the likes of kubic, Cubway, Colorcube, and Dots & Co. releasing into the market, the arrival of Linia on the App Store for £1.49/$1.99 is hardly unwelcome.

Its fresh and clean design complements its easy-breezy gameplay but it's far from simple. The aim of the game is to draw a line through the (moving) objects in the middle to match the colour sequence of the one shown above the picture.

Linia offers a challenge without making things impossible, and that's a hard thing to balance. With more than 80 levels on offer and apparently more to come with future updates, the game is definitely worth a look.

Head over to iTunes to pick it up now for £1.49/$1.99, or get it on Google Play for a similar price.

Days of Wonder will be rolling out a huge 2.0 update to its digital rail adventure board game Ticket to Ride on November 19th.

We've been able to bring you a preview of the update before it arrives in a couple of days. This includes the first screenshots and basic information.

Let's get started, shall we?

This update essentially reworks the entire digital version of Ticket to Ride from the ground up, giving it more modern functionality.

First off, this includes making it a universal app at long last. Yep, you'll no longer need separate versions for tablet and phones.

The new version will easily adapt to the size of your screen automatically and has a bespoke and simplified interface for both big and small displays.

Also being added is asynchronous multiplayer and cross-platform features. This means you can play multiple games at once and do so against people across mobile, tablet, and PC.

Ticket to Ride's digital version will also get its first vertical map, located in India, with this update. This will also open the game up to more maps as many of the game's expansions use the vertical format.

You can also expect new social media sharing capabilities. This includes sharing end-game reports, inviting and managing friends, and improved leaderboards.

You can also choose emoticons to display during online games to remark on the course of the match.

The 2.0 update will be free for people who already own the digital version of Ticket to Ride.

Otherwise you'll be able to pick it up for £4.99 / $6.99 on the App Store and Google Play, or £6.99 / $9.99 on Steam.
Want more? We've got it
That's the gist of this update. But we spoke to Days of Wonder to get a few more details for you.

What you can read below is a quick Q&A we did on the asynchronous multiplayer, the new India map, and transferring saves between platforms.
PG: How exactly will the asynchronous multiplayer work?DOW: The new asynchronous multiplayer introduces a new so-called "Multi Session" mode, that allows players to play a game and pause it at any moment.
When a player resumes the ongoing game, they see what the previous players did, and they can play if it's their turn to do so.

A Player Clock runs while it's the player's turn to play. Each player is allocated a preset amount of time to play the entire game - it works exactly like a Chess Clock.

This amount of time is set by the player who created the game - from minutes to weeks. When the Player Clock times out, the player is replaced by a robot so that the game can be finished by the other players.

The other difference between real time games and Multi Session games is that several Multi Session games can be played at the same time.

When it's a player's turn to play, they receive a notification on their device. As explained below, it works across devices: if you have an iPhone and a PC under Steam, you will receive the notification on both machines.

Asynchronous Gaming is great for players who want to play the game at a different pace.

Competitive players will also use it a lot for online tournaments, because the Player Clock greatly limits abuses and the pause feature resolves the problem of accidental disconnections.

Last but not least mobile users with poor data coverage will also enjoy the feature, since they can jump back in the game after disconnection without any penalties.
PG: You mention that the new India map is the first vertical one. How does this change how the game plays?DOW: The in-game user interface has been enhanced to support vertical maps. These will be especially appreciated on tablets and phones (you just rotate the device).
This also opens the road for future maps, since many expansions of the board game use the vertical format.

The India map itself brings a new brand way of playing by introducing loops called mandala.

On the India map players choosing to reach two cities though a mandala (connecting two cities with a loop) will get more points.
PG: Will players be able to switch between PC and mobile and transfer saves when doing so?DOW: We're excited to strengthen the current digital experience with even more functionality to meet the needs of our fans.
That is why it seemed essential to allow players on mobile devices, tablets and computers to play together, wherever they are and at any time, by creating an asynchronous multiplayer mode.

Players can thus easily switch between PC and mobile and transfer any match they have at any time!

All they need to do is to log in with their Days of Wonder account, and they will see their ongoing games, regardless of the device or computer used previously.
